Access Blocked Video

There are many options available to access videos that are blocked in your country. Sites such as Hulu and Comedy Central block their videos for viewers outside of the U.S. due to copyright laws. If you’ve ever come across this then you know how annoying it can be. Recently, I’ve come¬†across a simple way to access some of the more popular sites that do this.

Hola is a browser plug-in/extension¬†for Chrome and Firefox (Windows and Mac). I’ve been testing the Chrome extension which is free and simple to install. Once installed, all you need to do is visit one of the seven sites they currently support, it does it’s business and you’re good to go.

A few of the sites require a membership, Netflix for example, but once you have Hola installed you now have access to the U.S. catalog of videos.

Another service that I use is TunnelBear. It’s fairly simple to use in it’s own right, but offers a little more than Hola. There are no restrictions to the sites it works on, but comes at a cost of $4.99/mo with unlimited bandwidth. They do offer a free plan that limits you to 1GB per month and provide apps for both iOS and Android.

Try one of these out and enjoy.
