New Comics Wednesday

Wednesday is new comic book day and each week I’ll be sharing a list of my recommendations. A couple years ago I re-discovered my love of comic books, mostly due to my purchase of an iPad and the free Comixology app (iOS/Android/Kindle Fire). Reading comics on a tablet may not be for everyone, but it’s perfect for a lazy bastard like me. Here’s my picks for Wednesday January 23, 2013.

Chew #31 (Image)

The second half of CHEW starts here. With a funeral.

Chew is one of the weirdest and funniest books I’ve ever read. CHEW follows Tony Chu a officer of the law with a unique ability, he is Cibopathic. Which means he gets psychic impressions when he takes a bite out of something living or dead. He has worked with many organizations including the greatest law organization on Earth, The Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.).

Judge Dredd #3 (IDW)

“We’ve Got You Now!” In Mega-City One, kidnapping of the rich is a thing of the past, thanks to personal security droids. But a ruthless team of high-tech snatchers has come up with a cruel twist on the oldest racket on the books. They don’t nab you. Just… a certain part of you. But the kidnappers may regret holding one of the city’s most prominent citizens for ransom, because Judge Dredd’s just signed on to be the bagman! Plus: A shocking backup story with art by Langdon Foss that will leave you seeing double…

For Judge Dredd’s 35th anniversary, IDW re-introduced Judge Dredd to America in this all-new ongoing series.
